Tata Nexon EV Max Review
After viewing the features and specifications discussed above of this car now it’s time to review the car.
What is it like to drive?
Nexon EV Max is now installed with an all-new 40.5 kWh Li-ion battery pack, which is 33 percent larger than the standard Nexon electric car. In the sport mode, its motor produces a torque of 250 Nm and 143 PS power which is a gain of 5 Nm and 14PS higher than the standard version of Nexon. One thing to remember is that the weight of this new car is also 100 kg heavier than the previous one. Sport mode’s performance feels excited and its throttle responses feel a touch aggressive, so this mode is best for spirited drives.
The top speed of this new car is a little bit higher than the previous one’s 120 kmph. The new Sport mode is added to this car and the other 2 modes remain the same as the standard Nexon EV but the difference is in the throttle response time compared to Eco and City modes. 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 14.3 and 14.1 sec in Eco and City modes which are higher than the 16.1 sec in City mode of the standard version.
Nexon EV Max- Increased Range Reality
The most anticipated aspect of this review is the new range claimed by the company. The company claimed its range of 437 km but in the real scenario, it managed to gain an average of 263 km of overall range, which is 55 km more than the standard Nexon EV’s average range, but only 60 percent of the advertised figure.
This figure is achieved in Eco mode with regenerative braking set to level 2 and climate control to 22 degC in fully automatic mode and 2 people sat in the car. It was 6.6 kWh per km in the city and 6.4 kWh per km on the highway, converting a range of 266 km and 259 km respectively.
All About Charging of New Nexon EV Max
The company offers this car with a 3.3 kWh AC charger that will take 15 hours to charge of 0-100 percent. But the company also offers the customer to purchase a 7.2 kWh AC charger at a premium of Rs 50,000, which will take to charge the battery from 0 to 100 percent within 6.5 hours. Tata also says that if a 50 kW DC fast charger you can find then it will charge 0-80 percent in just 56 minutes. Here you should find a charging station with 40 kW or above DC fast charging for a quick charge of the battery.
Tata Nexon EV Max- How is inside the car?
The leatherette front seats with blue stitching and a tri-arrow pattern are installed like the standard version. The boot space of the new Nexon has not been altered which is 350 litres but it may expand up to 690 litres. An electronic parking brake switch replaces the handbrake with auto function as well as adjustable regenerative levels. The new Nexon comes with a pre-installed ISOFIX anchorage for child seats which is great.
Inside the cabin with blue highlights remains almost the same as the standard version but if you look closely then you can find a unique tri-arrow pattern on the black dashboard applique. Nice and clear display for handling the control of the car.
What about the Features?
Obviously, the more you spent more features you get. The new version comes with four variants- XZ+ and XZ+ Lux which are priced at Rs 17.74 lakh and Rs 18.74 lakh respectively. The other 2 variants viz XZ+ AC FC WMU and XZ+ Lux AC FC WMU have priced at Rs 18.24 lakh and Rs 19.24 lakh respectively. The Max edition packs a lot of safety kits like Hill-start assist, Hill-descent control, Traction control, ESP, Electronic parking brake with auto hold function, Tyre pressure monitoring system, etc are comes with the higher version.
Tata has taken a step forward with a new version of Nexon EV Max with all new features embedded in it like a larger battery, more safety and premium features, and a longer range. If your pocket agrees to spend more than Rs 1.54 lakh over the standard version then why not considering to buy this new one.
Tata Nexon EV, all-electric SUV is the bestselling EV in the previous year in India and clearly, it played a key role in the adoption of the electric vehicle market. So, this company is known to all and this car will definitely be a dark horse from the company’s point of view.
